A federal court has ordered that a New York federal court judge stop allowing him to sell and supply drugs containing prescription drugs such as Viagra, a popular erectile dysfunction treatment, over the counter.
The judge on Thursday issued a decision that could give him a chance to sell drugs to consumers, including some that are not regulated. The drugs have not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, and they are not currently marketed.
The judge ordered that if the drugs did not comply with the order, the court will order them to be stopped from selling them for up to 10 years.
In a statement to ABC New Straits, the judge said he was "in complete agreement" with the judge and could consider issuing a decision to halt the sale of the drugs. He said the judge would "assess and consider any legal issues that may arise before it can decide to allow the sale of these drugs."
The judge said he believed the drug products that were being sold to consumers would be less risky than those sold on the street and that he had been informed that he would only sell Viagra to men who had erectile dysfunction.
In April 2016, the FDA advised consumers that a drug called sildenafil, sold under the brand name Viagra, is no longer being sold to treat the problem of erectile dysfunction.
The drug, a drug that helps to relax the blood vessels, is a powerful vasodilator that acts to increase blood flow to the penis.
